Thankful to Give!

MY GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.
WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON.
THANKS FOR HOPPING!

Welcome to my blog and my Fall into Fall giveaway post.

I found out about the hop through Sandi's blog.
She always has a giveaway going on it seems!
She is so generous and her blog is full of quilt treasures -
especially on Mondays when she features quilts on 'the line'.

Sandi was also one of my Placemat Party Hostesses earlier this year
when I launched my first pattern into blog land.

Fall is my favourite time of year because there is so much orange!
I love to make colourful quilts.
I really enjoyed making this orange quilt.

It was an "Orange Pile" challenge with Pat Sloan, who is also part of this hop.
{She's also busy with 2 more hops - try to catch up to her if you can!}
Pat is another generous quilting spirit!

What am I giving away to celebrate Fall?
I decided to go through my stash {closets of stash!}
like Debi suggested.

Let's see what FALLS out!!

A sunflower bag made by me.

It was my only attempt at rag quilting. I really like it, but haven't used it at all.

Some plastic quilting templates. There are 3 - you can click the photo to see them better.
I inherited these from my husband's Granny.

Quilt note cards. There's quite an assortment.
I put together 2 of each design.
{I still have more for future giveaways.}

A fun, pattern booklet.

To use or just enjoy.

Ten 5 inch charms of sunflower fabric.
{Like my mini pumpkin?}

I've had this fabric for awhile and could never cut into it. I've recently begun to trim down some of my older stash into charms, strips, and even 10 inch squares. Suddenly it looks inviting again!

Then I still had to make something! I didn't just want to give away stuff.
I made up 4 Fall coasters using some of the selvages my sister just sent me.

You can find my tutorial for making some of your own here.

My husband said that we could really use some coasters. I guess I'm adding them to "the list"!

How do you enter to win?

Simply leave a comment on this post.

I'd like to know if you buy downloadable {pdf} patterns.
Let me know in your comment.

My giveaway is open to everyone - any country, with or without a blog.

PLEASE MAKE SURE I CAN CONTACT YOU!

Leave an email address in your comment if you are a 'no-reply' blogger.
{Check your profile page in Blogger. If you have chosen to keep your email private,
no one can reply to you! You can change your profile or simply leave your email}

Giveaway is open until
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 15
NOON EASTERN TIME

Good Luck to All!
Thanks for Visiting my Blog. Enjoy hopping through the list!

With Joy,
Sarah Vee

Sarah, I scrolled down the list of bloggers participating in the fall giveaway for those I know and there you were. And so I came over and my jaw dropped when I saw that you started your post with a note about finding out about the giveaway through my blog. Your kind thoughts about my blog choked me up! Seriously, how sweet! I love sharing on my blog and am "sew glad" that we met via blogging. Pat's cool, too. I haven't checked into the group in ages. It's been a crazy summer behind the blogging scene. :-) Regarding downloadable patterns.......I've never bought one but have had inquiries about being able to purchase some of my patterns in that format. I haven't had time to pursue that angle. I'll e-mail you with a couple other thoughts about the pattern issue. :-)

Regina October 2, 2010 at 1:01 AM

Wow what an amazing giveaway. I really like your blog too. I'm so glad I found it!

I prefer to buy downloadable patterns over paper ones any day. I buy way more than I should ;)

I like it for a few reasons. The obvious is the instant or nearly instant gratification. The fact that even if I misplace my printed copy I still have it on my computer. I can print it out even if I'm on vacation as long as I have my computer handy. Lastly, the patterns are usually set up like tutorials which I love. (Sorry for the long reply).

Jeanne October 2, 2010 at 3:42 PM

I do buy pdf's if I am looking for something in particular, altho I am pretty much a fly by the seat of my pants kinda girl, don't use too many patterns, not a pattern maker by any means but I figure out what I want and make it, usually works out the way I want, sometimes it pays to be "Flexible". Great giveaway, thanks for sharing.

Doina October 2, 2010 at 4:19 PM

I have bought pdf patterns in the past - and actually prefer to do that to "regular patterns". It is quick and easy ... and I can even buy them from "around the world" (I live in Germany) without huge postal charges!!!
Thanks for this awesome giveaway!
And if you want to come by my blog and enter my giveaways, too ... you could win some custom-made buttons ... or a teacozy ...
Have a lovely Sunday!

Jansie October 4, 2010 at 12:57 AM

Hi Sarah, Thanks for participating in the give away. I ALWAYS buy PDF patterns. I browse on line all the time and if I find something I want to make, I don't want to wait! :) jansie(at)gmail(dot)com

grendelskin October 4, 2010 at 8:25 AM

Sweet giveaway! I'd rather buy a PDF and get near-instant delivery than pay more and wait for the mail to arrive only to find that the seller has just printed a copy out on regular copy paper anyhow. I can choose to print it or not, reprint a single page if I lose one in my sewing room (no major feat), hole-punch the pages for my binder without feeling bad about it, etc.

AnnieO October 4, 2010 at 12:42 PM

Fun giveaway, Sarah Vee! Love the sunflower bag and all the handmade goodies. I have bought downloadable pdfs, for some cross stitch patterns actually. Thanks for the chance to win.

Thanks for the chance to win in your giveaway. I do not buy downloadable patterns , I think because I like to actually see a pattern before I buy it. I prefer to buy fabric this way also so I can see what the colors really look like and how the fabric feel.

NanaSings October 8, 2010 at 11:58 PM

Great giveaway, thank you! I like PDF download patterns because I can either leave them on the computer (so green, don't ya know) or print them out and because the sheets are uniform it encourages me to 3 hole punch them and organize them in a binder.
susan@mathisons.org

quilary October 9, 2010 at 12:47 AM

I have bought downloadable patterns. I like them because they arrive quickly, and storing them on the computer takes up less space and I can find them easily. Beautiful giveaway - thanks for the chance.

I have never purchased a downloadable pattern for quilting before. I have for machine embroidery and enjoy the ones I have purchased. I love the sunflower fabric. Thanks!

Nancy Sue October 11, 2010 at 2:53 PM

I kinda am sitting on the fence with downloadable patterns. I've purchased ebooks and e-patterns, and while they are a "greener" choice, I like the portability of hard copy patterns (especially patterns that are printed larger than 8 1/2 by 11, that I wouldn't be able to print on my printer. So my answer is yes, and no. I guess I'm a bit old school.

I do like downloadable patterns. I like that you can get the pattern immediately. I usually leave a hard copy on my computer and print a copy to work with.
